I grew up in the province and had never even heard of Bonifacio Global City (BGC) until November 2023. When people talk about Manila, Makati is the name that usually comes up. I’d heard about places like Xylo, Revel, and Taguig, but I had no idea they were actually part of BGC. When I first arrived here, I was completely lost about where to stay. I ended up feeling confused and a bit let down by the hotels I’d booked. I kept thinking, “Where are all the tall buildings and the luxury everyone talks about?” It turns out, the hotels I picked were actually just outside BGC. The difference between the shiny new buildings in BGC and the run-down houses just a short walk away is pretty striking. So, for the sake of this blog, I’m going to call BGC the new divide.
